Robert Lewandowski netted a brace including a stoppage time winner as Bayern Munich posted a 2-1 win over Freiburg.

In the first Bundesliga match of 2017, Freiburg were hosting the leaders Bayern Munich. The home side took the lead as early as the 4th minute thanks to Janik Haberer, who finished off with great teamwork.

Polish international Lewandowski equalized when he volleyed in Douglas Costa's corner 10 minutes before the end of the first half.

It appeared that Bayern were going to be frustrated in search for cementing their top place in the standings as several chances were wasted, but Lewandowski came to Bayern's rescue with a late winner.

Bayern now have 42 points, 8 points adrift of Leipzig who have a game in hand.
