In English football, Liverpool have squeezed past Plymouth Argyle 1-nil in their FA Cup third round replay at Home Park Stadium.

The Merseyside Reds headed into Wednesday’s encounter on the back of their nil-nil draw with Plymouth at Anfield. Liverpool scored in the 18th minute when Lucas Leiva bulleted a powerful header past the keeper after a great corner by Coutinyo, making it 1-nil.

The visitors then had a great chance to double their advantage 3 minutes from time as they were awarded a penalty after Moreno was brought down in the box. But, Divock Origi took it very poorly and sent the ball straight into the arms of the keeper.

With the win, Liverpool progress into the next stage of the competition.
