In an unprecedented move, outgoing US President Barack Obama has reduced the sentences of nearly 1,400 convicts and granted pardon to well over 200 other prisoners. And now, many in Pakistan are angry with their government for not making a formal request to the US administration for pardoning a Pakistani neuroscientist, Aafia Siddiqui. She was convicted by a US court years go for attempting to murder her American interrogators in an Afghan jail.
