Australian Open: Federer beats Rubin in straight sets

17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has advanced to the 3rd round of the Australian open, following a straight sets victory over American Noah Rubin.

The Swiss maestro beat the 20-year-old qualifier Noah Rubin 7-5, 6-3, 7-6 (3) to maintain his record of never failing to reach the third round at the 18 Australian Opens he’s contested.

Next up, Federer faces Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic, who had a straight sets win over Ryan Harrison.
