Australian Open: Djokovic beats Verdasco in straight sets

World number two Novak Djokovic has reached the second round after beating Fernando Verdasco 6-1, 7-6, 6-2.

After Djokovic dominated the opening set, Verdasco saved 2 break points in the 9th game of the second set, eventually sending it to a tiebreaker.

In the third set, Djokovic swept to a 3-love lead and won it in 2 hours and 20 minutes. The win is the Serb’s 9th over the Spaniard in 10 meetings on hard courts.
