Cristiano Ronaldo has been crowned FIFA’s best footballer of 2016 after a glittering year which saw him win the Champions League and Euro 2016 trophies for club and country.

The Real Madrid and Portugal star-striker beat off his arch rival Lionel Messi and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann to complete a sweep of international awards for his achievements in 2016.

The 31-year-old Ronaldo also won the France Football's Ballon d'Or last month after his third Champions League title as well as triumphing with Portugal at Euro 2016. The Portuguese had previously won the old FIFA award in 2008, 2013 and 2014.
