Spaniard Rafael Nadal has beaten Tomas Berdych at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship.

Nadal, who was playing his first match for 2 months, needed 1 hour and 16 minutes to overcome the world number 10 for the 20th time.

Berdych was given a hard time in the first set as Nadal raced through 6-love in less than half an hour. The Czech improved in the 2nd set which went with serve until the 9th game, when Nadal broke to lead 5-4.

The 14-time grand slam winner then served-out to win the match 6-love, 6-4. Nadal will now face world number 4 Milosh Raonic of Canada on Friday, with world number 1 Andy Murray and David Goffin contesting the other semi-final.
