People in Iran are holding nation-wide rallies to mark the 7th anniversary of the 2009 mass demonstrations in support of the Islamic establishment. Demonstrators have taken to the streets in different cities to commemorate the day when tranquility was restored following months of political wrangling and unrest in Iran. In the capital Tehran, people gathered at the Imam Khomeini Grand Prayer Grounds to mark the occasion. On December 30, 2009, millions of people took to the streets to condemn the turmoil, which erupted in the wake of the presidential election.
