Liverpool have climbed to second place in the English Premier League after claiming a 4-1 victory over Stoke City at Anfield.
Jonathan Walters headed home just 12 minutes into the game to give Stoke the lead. It's only the third Premier League goal Stoke have scored at Anfield in 40 years.
But their joy didn't last long as Liverpool levelled things up in the 35th minute. Sadio Mane crossed it into a congested Stoke penalty area but Glen Johnson's terrible first touch went straight to Adam Lallana, who reacted quick to convert from a tight angle.
James Milner then laid it off for Roberto Firmino, whose dragged shot hit both posts before knocking into the net to give Liverpool the lead just before the break to make it 2-1.
Things went from bad to worse for Stoke after the interval as Giannelli Imbula Wanga turned the ball into his own net in the 59th minute to give Liverpool their third goal. Not only was he the scorer of the own goal, but the creator of it as well.
Daniel Sturridge then rounded up the scoring in the 70th minute when he fired into an empty net. That was his first Premier league goal of the season. 4-1 is how it ended.
