Hundreds have gathered at the Stonehenge in the UK to celebrate the winter solstice.
The prehistoric icon located in Wiltshire, England has hosted hundreds of festive visitors. People celebrated the occasion that has the year’s shortest day and its longest night on top of being an onset of winter.
Some expressed their joy by playing trumpets, drums and other instruments, while others prayed, chanted and took pictures with the English heritage until sunrise. Stonehenge supporters contributed to the party by serenading the monument.
Solstice refers to the moment when the sun reaches its most southerly declination, directly marking the Earth’s southernmost latitude.
