Bayern Munich have secured their spot at the top of the standings after overwhelming their rivals Leipzig 3-nil at the Allianz Arena.

The Bavarians went ahead after 17 minutes on Wednesday through Thiago Alcantara who scored on a rebound.

Xabi Alonso then doubled the lead for the hosts about 10 minutes later by slotting the ball past the keeper to make it 2-nil.

Things then got even worse for the visitors as they were reduced to 10 men after Emil Forsberg was sent off on a red card. And, just seconds before halftime Robert Lewandowski added Bayern’s third from the penalty spot as the German Giants secured their place atop the Bundesliga table for the winter break.
