Trump to be more supportive of Israel than previous admins: Analyst

Trump is going to be “even more supportive of Israel’s occupation of Palestine than previous US administrations,” an analyst says.

US President-elect Donald Trump is going to be “even more supportive of Israel’s occupation of Palestine than previous US administrations,” says an American anti-war activist and political analyst in Chicago.

“This was already revealed when Trump nominated David Friedman to be ambassador to Israel. Friedman has raised millions to aid the apartheid regime as it builds more illegal Jewish-only settlements in the occupied West Bank,” Joe Iosbaker, a leader of the United National Antiwar Committee, told Press TV on Monday.

“In his first statement accepting the nomination, he reminded the world that Trump has promised to move the US embassy to Jerusalem (al-Quds), which basically recognizes Israel’s claim to the Palestinian city as their capital,” he stated.

The director of Israel’s Mossad spy agency, Yossi Cohen, has secretly met with Trump’s transition team, according to reports.

The meeting took place during Cohen’s clandestine visit to the US, where he was accompanied by a delegation of the Tel Aviv regime’s security officials, Israeli media reported Sunday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly put together the delegation, which was headed by Yaakov Nagel, head of the Israeli National Security Council.

The news of the high-profile meeting surfaced days after Trump nominated Friedman, a hardline Zionist, as US ambassador to Israel.

The strategic choice would likely pave the way for a controversial decision to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds.

Iosbaker said Israel has been “the pitbull for US imperialism in the Middle East for over 50 years; and the reason the US provides over three billion dollars to Israel in military aid is because Israel serves the Wall Street agenda.”

“The US supports the occupation of Palestine. Let’s be clear about that. And Israel has waged continued wars against the Arab countries that are independent of the US. Egypt in the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s," he said.

"Israel attacked Iraq in 1981. They invaded Lebanon repeatedly attempting to defeat Palestinians there as well as the Lebanese resistance movement. And today Israel attacks Syria and supports the right-wing rebels in their murderous war to overthrow the government in Damascus,” the activist noted.

“Of course, Israel has made its main objective to crush Iran, because Iran is the largest stable country in the region that’s on the side of Palestine and against US imperialism,” he explained.

“There are those that thought that Trump would pursue a policy in the Middle East distinct from previous administrations in Washington. They were wrong,” the analyst said in concluding remarks.
