Unity Week against sectarianism

In Surah Al-Hujurat, Verse 10, in the Quran, Allah (S.W.T.) says, “Without doubt, the believers are brothers of one another, so then make peace and harmony between your brothers and have consciousness of Allah so that maybe He will show you mercy.”

Sectarianism has always been a problem due to ancient issues; or is this something new that needs a particular focus? How can Muslims recognize this sectarianism and what is their individual responsibility in dealing with it?

There is no doubt that sectarian tensions within the Muslim community are being fuelled by external and internal forces. It is also clear that the attacks from within are being executed by those that have bought (either literally or metaphorically) the agenda of division. While some of those threats are obvious due to their crassness, there are others which try to adjust their fig leaf to hide their sectarian objectives.
