A senior Iranian commander says the liberation of the strategic Syrian city of Aleppo shows that the power of global arrogance has been shattered.

“The liberation of Aleppo indicates the defeat of the political and military power of the [global] arrogance in one part of the Muslim world and the raising of the flag of Islamic struggle while the [global] arrogance's flag has fallen,” said Brigadier General Hossein Salami, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)’s second-in-command, on Wednesday.

Syrian forces have almost completed the liberation of Aleppo, with militants having surrendered most of their remaining territory. Hundreds of foreign-backed militants have laid down arms in Aleppo in the past 24 hours. Almost 6,000 civilians have also left militant-held districts of the northwestern Syrian city over the past day.

The fact that Aleppo has been liberated shows that the US and its allies, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey, as well as Takfiris have plunged into an abyss of despair, Salami said.

The Iranian commander expressed high optimism that the Iraqi city of Mosul would be also fully recaptured from Daesh terrorists. He also voiced hope for victories for the Yemeni and Bahraini nations.

The Iranian parliament congratulates Iraq and Syria on their achievements in the battle against terrorists and plots by malevolent countries, and announced the Iranian nation’s support for them until their final victory, Larijani said.

He lashed out at global powers for plundering Muslims’ resources and launching a campaign of fear against certain countries to sell their weapons and cover up their “adventurism” in the region.

“The reason behind such actions is that over the past years their hypocritical policies in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen have hit a deadlock, and the achievements by the brave people of the region have constantly pushed back their mercenaries to the extent that the important Syrian city of Aleppo has been purged of terrorists, and Mosul will be liberated soon too,” the top Iranian parliamentarian said.

Iranian lawmakers laud liberation of aleppo

Also in a statement on Wednesday, a total of 163 Iranian lawmakers congratulated Syria on the liberation of Aleppo.

The global hegemony and arrogance have resorted to proxy wars to topple independent popular governments, particularly those in the region, to protect Israel and break the resistance front, the Iranian MPs said, adding, however, that the all-out resistance and steadfastness of the Syrian nation in attaining the great conquest of Aleppo and purging the city from the ominous presence of the Daesh Takfiris and other stooges of the global arrogance has astonished the entire world.
