An Afghan boy who became famous on the internet for wearing a homemade football shirt of Lionel Messi has finally met his hero.

The photo of six-year-old Murtaza Ahmadi wearing a blue-and-white striped plastic bag went viral in January.

The Afghan boy and his champion managed to meet face to face as Barcelona was in Qatar for a friendly match. Murtaza also walked out onto the pitch with Messi.

The meeting was arranged through the UN refugee agency (UNHCR).
