Cristiano Ronaldo wins 4th Ballon d’Or Award
Portugal and Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo has won his 4th Ballon d’Or award, seeing off competition from 5-time winner Lionel Messi.
Ronaldo has enjoyed a trophy-laden year. He scored the winning penalty to secure Real Madrid's 2nd Champions League triumph in 3 years, before leading his country, Portugal, to their 1st ever European Championship at the Euro 2016.
He had also won the Award in 2008, 2013 and 2014. The award is given to the World's Best Europe-based Player as voted by 173 journalists from around the World.
