The Polish city of Krakow has offered a new technology to challenge air pollution.

Authorities have decided to use drones to monitor air quality levels and detect areas of contamination.

The special drones have been designed with a variety of sensors and cameras that will help officials come up with a plan to reduce air pollution.

The aircraft will track what people burn in their stoves and monitor rooftops and chimneys. It's hoped this will help change attitudes toward burning toxic material.

Drones would fly at night and in the morning, and transmit then information to the relevant authorities. This could lead to an inspection if a house is found to be burning garbage.
