Italy opens first interactive supermarket in the city of Milan

Italy opens its first "Supermarket of the Future" open 24 hours a day in the city of Milan.

A supermarket in the Italian city of Milan may have paved the way to future interactive supermarket shopping.

The shop is equipped with touchscreen computers that have all the information about the products. Shoppers can discover everything about their chosen food products with interactive tables where a simple movement of the hand shows the relevant information.

Nutritional facts and allergy advice are all shown to the customers. The new system aims to preserve product freshness as monitors are placed next to fridges so that customers only open the doors after reading about what they have chosen.
