Terrorists’ return to Europe backlash of West-sponsored wars: Analyst

An EU report warns that a third of the estimated 5,000 European nationals who traveled to Iraq and Syria to join Takfiri terrorists have returned home, probably with a mission to launch attacks.

This is one of the terrible, unforeseen consequences of the “utterly stupid” wars that the United States and NATO countries have staged across the world, says a political commentator.

“We do not know what people coming back from the battlefields of Syria and elsewhere… will do. I mean you cannot fight for a so-called caliphate in Europe if that is what they were seduced to believe that they would fight for. They can do a lot of harm in Europe, but we do not know whether they would try to promote that ideology in Europe,” Jan Oberg told Press TV in an interview on Friday.

However, he said, these people will be psychologically traumatized and dangerous for their society, adding that all that Europe is totally unprepared for their return.

The analyst went on to say that this will be the end of the Western dominance of the world, because the blowback about to hit the West will make it weaker.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Oberg noted arms exports are the most "mean and dirty" deals in the world, arguing that they should all be criminalized.

He also noted that the West must stop its arms exports, bombing other states, and having bases overseas, adding that it should accept it is the citizens of North Africa and the Middle East who should decide their future not Europe or the United States.

“It is a great sin, it is a great stupidity that we keep on doing these things and I say no more peace deals that do not include the civilians, the citizens, the people who live in these areas,” he stated.
