Burning meteor lights up sky in southern Siberia

Footage from the Republic of Khakassia shows a bright flash and then a fireball speeding over a town, lighting the whole area up.

People in southwest Siberia have witnessed a big meteor explode in the sky. It briefly made the night as bright as day.

Footage from the Republic of Khakassia shows a bright flash and then a fireball speeding over a town, lighting the whole area up. The meteor is believed to have been completely destroyed during the fall.

However, local authorities say fragments of the fireball could be found in a nearby valley. Officials assured locals that the flare was natural and had caused no damage.
