Fairytale village in Argentina attracts tourists

Flight of fancy … Campanopolis

A mysterious Medieval-inspired village with reused discarded materials has become a tourist destination in Argentina.

The Campanopolis village on the outskirts of Buenos Aires looks like a fairytale European village. It was built by an Argentine millionaire in the late 1970s, but it was opened to the public in 2008. Ceilings made out of doors, stairs that go nowhere and ornamental wheels are all part of the village's fantastical buildings.

Doors originally from an old hippodrome in Buenos Aires and old crystals rescued from local auctions are just some of the thousands of discarded items.

Nowadays, the recycled fairytale village is only open to visitors for four hours a week. It can be rented out as a film location and for private events.
