French Prime Minister Manuel Valls has announced his decision to campaign for next year’s presidential election. He says he would step down from his current job to focus on his bid. Although Valls is somewhat more popular than President Francois Hollande, the ruling Socialist Party is in deep disarray over the government's handling of the economy.

Ramin Mazaheri reports from Paris.
