Coins featuring Putin's portrait minted in Russia

The palm-sized coins are made of sterling silver and are 12 centimeters in diameter and of nearly one kilogram in weight each.

Commemorative medal coins featuring portraits of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu have been minted by jewelers in the city of Zlatoust.

The palm-sized coins are made of sterling silver and are 12 centimeters in diameter. Each coin weighs nearly one kilogram. Jewelers say it is a way of appreciating those who ensure Russia’s independence, stability and defense capability.

It is not the first time that the Russian president has been featured on a coin.

Jewelry companies in the country previously minted coins featuring Putin to commemorate the reunification of Crimea with Russia.
