Argentina have roared back to notch up a historic win against home side Croatia 3-2 to clinch the Davis Cup for the first time in a dramatic final in Zagreb.

Croatia got into the final with high hopes to grab the title for the second time when Marin Cilic looked dominant, having led Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro 2 sets to love.

The pendulum swung, however, to del Potro’s way as he stormed back and grabbed the following 3 sets t 7-5, 6-4, 6-3. The other Argentine Federico Delbonis also put on a superb display as he outclassed Ivo Karlovic in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in the decisive 5th contest to secure the victory.

The result means Argentina have created 2 unique pieces of history. Not only is it the first time they have won the Davis Cup after coming second on four occasions, it is also just the third time since 1981 that a team has come from 2-1 down in the final to win 3-2.
