Denmark has opened its second supermarket to sell nothing but expired products in an attempt to combat food waste and hunger.

'Wefood' has opened its second branch of supermarkets where surplus food is sold for half of the actual price.

The attempt was made after the launch of Denmark’s first expired food store for the public proved to be a huge success in less than a year.

All the products at Wefood are consumable even though they have passed their sell-by date which is an indicator of food quality rather than safety.

The project draws long lines of both ecoconscious shoppers and individuals with limited budgets that shop on each day’s available products.
