Spanish giants Real Madrid have registered a 2-1 victory over Sporting CP with the help of Karim Benzema during their UEFA Champions League match at the Jose Al-valade stadium.

29 minutes into Tuesday’s match, Los Blancos managed to take the lead when Raphael Varane slotted the ball past the keeper to make it 1-nil.

Things then got even harder for the hosts after the restart as they were reduced to 10 men in the 64th minute when Joao Pereira was shown a straight red card for punching Mateo Kovacic in the stomach. But despite that, Sporting leveled the scoring in the 80th minute through Adrien Silva who scored from the penalty spot.

Karim Benzema then came to Real's rescue as he came off the bench to head home a Sergio Ramos curling free-kick and keep Madrid’s hopes of coming out on top of Group F alive.

That's while in a Group E enconter, Germany’s Bayer Leverkusen have been held to a 1-all draw by Cska Moscow.

Leverkusen went ahead after 16 minutes at Arena Seska through Kevin Volland who fired the ball past the keeper from 12 yards, making it 1-nil.

But a penalty from Bibras Natcho in the 76th minute denied them a victory as Seska must now focus on trying to grab a Europa League spot, while Leverkusen are through to the knock out stages after Monaco defeated Spurs 2-1 in the other Group E fixture on Tuesday.
