Lebanon celebrates independence day

November 22 marks Lebanon's independence from France's colonial rule in 1943. The event is celebrated annually with military parades and public festivities. Lebanon's newly elected President Michel Aoun attended this year's ceremony after more than two years of political vacuum in the country.
