A pensioner in China’s Shanxi province has made paper out of panda dung.

The retired schoolmaster says the idea of making paper with fiber-rich panda excrement, crossed his mind after he saw villagers using cow dung for the same purpose with the traditional Chinese paper-making skill.

Paper from panda dung has a fresh bamboo scent. The Chinese pensioner says since pandas are considered treasures for China and that the ‘panda paper’ is valuable, too.

The man also says he is not going to sell the paper and will only give it to others as a gift. Researchers believe panda dung could produce finer quality paper than elephant dung.
