The International Olympics Committee (IOC) has confirmed sixteen more positive doping cases from the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, after banned substances were traced during retests of samples.

There are three silver and seven bronze medalists among them but no champions. The IOC has stripped all the ten athletes of medals from the 2008 Olympics.

The other 6 Olympians who did not win medals in 2008 were also disqualified. The athletes are mostly from weightlifting while athletics and wrestling make up the rest.

The IOC has been analyzing samples from both the Beijing and London Games and it brings the total of banned athletes from 2008 to 76.
