Portugal have brushed aside Latvia 4-1 at home, to keep the race alive with group B leaders Switzerland.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring for the hosts with a first-half penalty to give his side a 1-nil advantage. The 2nd half saw the visitors level things up, thanks to a superb strike from Arturs Zjuzins.

But the European champions stormed back right away and restored the lead with a header from William Carvalho.

Ronaldo then scored his 2nd of the night 5 minutes from time, with a world class scissor-kick. And then Bruno Alves headed home from close range to wrap-up the 4-1 victory for the home side. With the win, Portugal now sit 2nd in the six-team group.
