South Africa’s youngest published author is inspiring other children to follow their dreams and keep trying.

Michelle Nkamankeng wrote her first book “Waiting for the Waves” at only 6 years. It took the South African a year to convince her parents to publish the book which made her the continent’s first on the list of world’s top 10 youngest writers back in October.

Since then, Michelle has become an inspirational speaker in some schools in South Africa. She enjoys being asked for help and advice, and urges all children to persist on pursuing their dreams.

The novel, ‘Waiting for the Waves’ is the first and only published part of a four series with plots focused on confidence building and overcoming fears.

Michelle’s mother had spent more than $8000 to have the book published at Wits University’s education campus in Parktown. The young talent’s current goal is to be a pediatrician and to go on writing and publishing.
