Iran defeats Russia 3-1 at Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup
Iran have put-up another dominating performance at the Beach Soccer Cup in Dubai, after beating defending champions Russia 3-1 on penalties.
This was Iran’s toughest game in group B, and their Russian rivals made sure it stayed that way. Iran may have opened the scoring, but the 3 time champions soon responded and kept catching up until they were both tied at 3-all, and had to settle the score in penalties.
Despite Russia’s efforts to keep up, Iran proved to have the upper hand taking the win with a 3-1 victory in the shootout.
Iran have now topped group B with 7 points, one more than Russia. Egypt finish 3rd with 3 points while the USA have collected no points at all. Iran will next play Taahiti in the semis, while Brazil take on Russia.
