US, Russian scientists could team up for space project

The Planet Venus.

NASA and the Russian Space Agency could be teaming up for a joint mission to Venus, named the Venus-D project.

NASA has already drawn up a number of scenarios for the mission to the alien planet with its Russian counterparts.

The experts consider launching a full-scale program to explore Venus that would involve an orbiter, sub satellites and atmospheric sounders. But NASA isn’t the only one thinking of a joint venture. A number of European and Chinese agencies have also expressed willingness to take part in the mission.

Venus has long been out of sight for scientists, with the last landing dating back to 1985 when a Soviet capsule reached the planet.
