The Italian clocked the Sepang International Circuit with the fastest time of 2 minutes and 11.485 seconds to achieve his 5th pole in the premier class of Grand Prix racing.
Yamaha riders Valentino Rossi and Horhay Lorenzo managed to finish in second and 3rd places respectively.
That’s while Spain’s Marc Marquez, who has been struggling with an illness in Malaysia, will start in 4th for the penultimate round of the championship.
