The reigning champions Cleveland Cavaliers have begun the new season with a 117-88 home win against the New York Knicks.

Before the game began, the Cavs received their championship rings in a ceremony as they were cheered by their home fans.

A good start by the away team on Tuesday was soon put to bed by the Cavs as they went on to outscore the visitors 28-18 in the first frame.

But, at the intermission, only 3 points separated the two sides as it finished 48-45 for the Cavs at halftime.

The NBA champions then routed the Knicks in the third quarter 34-19 with Irving scoring 19 of his 29 points in the night within the frame.

The away team didn’t have much to offer in the last frame either and went down 35-24 to endure a 29 point loss.

LeBron James was also fine and shiny for Cleveland with his career’s 43rd triple double which included 19 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds. For the other side, Carmelo Anthony led with 19 points.
