The 26 year old, who suffered a muscle injury in the Japan Open 3 weeks ago, grabbed the first break of serve at 6-5 and never looked back.

Nishikori cruised into a 5-love lead in the second set and held on to take the set 6-1 and book his place in the round of 16 at the ATP Tour 500 event.

The Japanese is seeking his second title this year after prevailing at the Memphis Open back in February.
