30-man Ballon d'Or award shortlist announced

The 30-man shortlist for the 2016 Ballon d’Or award has been revealed with 5-time winner Lionel Messi being once again among the players in contention for the prize.

The list features the other 2 players in Barcelona’s MSN triangle as well, namely Luis Suarez and Neymar.

Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo has also made the 30-man cut for the award, having claimed a famous double of the Champions League with Real Madrid and the European Championship with Portugal.

Ronaldo is looking to win the award for the 4th time. Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez who helped Leicester City win a maiden Premier League title along with Gareth Bale, Hugo Lloris, Sergio Aguero, and Kevin De Bruyne have also been named on the shortlist for the world’s best player.
