Real Madrid have registered a hard fought 2-1 win against Athletic Bilbao at Santiago Bernabeu to climb to the top of the standings.
The visitors got off to a better start but it was Los Blancos who opened the scoring inside the opening 10 minutes when Isco set up Karim Benzema for a finish from six yards out.
Sabin Merino provided the response for the away side 20 minutes later as he fired home a strike from close range.
Alvaro Morata found the back of the net seven minutes from time after he saw his first shot saved, but stabbed home the rebound to seal a precious victory for Real.
