MotoGP champion Marc Marquez has taken pole position for the Australian Grand Prix.

The 23 year old Spaniard rolled the dice and switched to slick tyres in changeable weather conditions on Saturday.

The gamble paid off and Marquez qualified 7/10 of a second quicker than fellow Honda rider Cal Crutchlow to claim his 6th pole position of the season.

Spain’s Monster Yamaha racer Pol Espargaro finished 3rd to secure his position on the front row in Sunday’s race.
