Britain's Cal Crutchlow has topped the time-sheets in a rain soaked first practice session ahead of the Australian MotoGP.
Torrential rain brought an early end to the first day of practice at Philip Island on Friday, leaving the British rider in the lead after only a handful of racers showed enough courage to finish the track in the day's second session.
Crutchlow's early ride saw him secure a lap time early in the session which left him faster than Valentino Rossi, Danilo Petrucci and Jack Miller before the day's action was ended by even heavier rain.
The riders were only able to run 10 laps on super-soft rain tyres, thanks to a restriction put in place by the tyre manufacturer.
Valentino Rossi was docked all his fast laps on the tyre for exceeding the limit. That cost the Italian his second place time and demoted him to second last.
