Presidential debates indicate end of 'US empire': Analyst

A political analyst says the US presidential debates between Donald Trump, the Republican Party nominee, and his rival and Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton show the end of ‘US empire.’

In an interview with Press TV, Shabbir Hassanaly, a political commentator from London, described the presidential debates conducted so far between Clinton and Trump as "mudslinging against each other.”

“It's playground politics that has no real basis … It’s amateur and pathetic and it's a sign of how defunct and finished the American empire is. If this is the best that they can do then America is well and truly finished,” he added.

On Wednesday, Trump and Clinton went head-to-head in Nevada for the third and final presidential debate, clashing on a range of topics.

Hassanally expressed regret at where the US presidential debates were leading, saying, “The US is not at democracy, it's a farce.”

The analyst said that despite the fact that Jill Stein, the Green Party presidential candidate, was a valid and viable candidate, there was no mention of her anywhere.

Asked about the criteria people use to elect the next US president, Hassanally, citing a recent survey, said Americans think of their politicians just the way they know about soap operas and TV programs.

“This is the problem, the only thing people know is the rubbish they see on TV and these debates are designed to further compound that ignorance,” he said.

He went on to say that there was a movement of “aware and free people across America and the world,” but stressed that this was by far the minority, because people were still influenced by the mainstream media.

Finally, Hassanally explained that America is not governed by those who profess to get voted in but by “the one percent and the Zionists.”

“If you examine what Trump and Clinton try to say about [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and about how they're going to recognize al-Quds as the so-called eternal capital of this cancerous tumor called Israel, you can see that there is no interest in securing any type of justice or peace. These are both criminals and the world should prepare itself for difficult times ahead,” he concluded.
