This odd looking machine, which is called the Impossible Engine, could allegedly take humans to Mars in just ten weeks.

The device made by NASA, is an upgraded version of the original prototype. It creates thrust by bouncing microwaves around in an enclosed chamber using only solar power.

Solar energy then provides electricity to power the microwaves, meaning that no propellant is needed. But many critics argue that the concept is being hyped up and that it goes against the laws of physics.

The secrets of this mysterious technology could be set to be revealed in December this year by the US Space Agency.
