A university professor says Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has correctly said that the Iranian officials must not retreat in the face of the United States’ ever-increasing demands.

Iran and the P5+1 group of countries signed the nuclear deal, dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in July 2015, which went into effect on January 16, but the US as one of signatories to the agreement has not met its commitments under the deal.

In an interview with Press TV, University of Tehran Professor Mohammad Marandi said those Iranians who thought the US would change its behavior towards Iran after the signing of the nuclear deal found out that Ayatollah Khamenei was quite correct to say that “the United States is not reliable" in its agreements with other nations.

Criticizing America’s inaction to fully comply with the terms of the JCPOA, Marandi stated, “The behavior of the United States did not at all meet the expectations of the international community and of many Iranians.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution pointed out that the United States is using its capacity to try to force Iran to capitulate, he said.

The professor hoped that Iran would continue “supporting people of Yemen,” Iraq and Syria as much as possible, adding that the “US is helping destroy Yemen” and Syria.

So “there is really no room for debate when it comes to human rights and terrorism,” he added.

“It’s very important for the Iranians to recognize that the only way for it is really self-reliance and to make progress” in diverse fields, he concluded.
