US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump reveals a racist face of the United States, American comedian and political commentator Bill Maher says.

“Donald Trump is a reflection, and what we learned is that there's a lot of vulgar, tacky, racist people in this country, more than I thought,” Maher said in an interview with CNN broadcast on Sunday night.

"I knew there were some, but it's the proverbial lifting up of a rock. And what we found when we lifted it up was a basket of deplorables" he added.

In September, Clinton used the controversial term of a “basket of deplorables” to describe Trump’s supporters.  Later on, she apologized for it.

“I know they hate that term but if the basket fits — and it does,” insisted Maher, who himself is preacher of Zionist ideas, and often makes anti-Muslims comments.

Maher went on to claim that Trump voters live in "a reality of their own choosing."

"It's not even a race between ideologies anymore. It's not Republican and Democrat or conservative and liberal. It's reality versus alternative reality," he said.

The comedian, a supporter of Clinton, said if Trump loses in November “he’s going to be a revolutionary out there.”

In recent days, Trump has repeatedly accused the "corrupt" US media of manipulating the 2016 election in favor of his Democratic rival, Clinton.

"Hillary is running for president in what looks like a rigged election," Trump told supporters in New Hampshire on Saturday.

And, the US media has launched an offensive against Trump, publishing a number of reports in recent days in which several women claimed that the billionaire businessman had groped and forcibly kissed them.

But Maher argued that the media has not done enough to damage Trump's campaign.

“I think the media has been going downhill for a long time, with notable exceptions,” he said. ”But I think one of their big problems is they confuse fair and balanced with false equivalency.”

Trump's campaign has also been marred by his disparaging remarks against minorities in the US. His comments include a call to ban all Muslims from coming to America as well as forced deportation of Mexican migrants.
