Southampton have extended their impressive home form, as they overcame Burnley 3-1 at St Mary's, to grab their place back in the top half of the Premier League table.

After a dull first half, the hosts finally crushed Burnley’s strong resistance, when striker Charlie Austin broke the deadlock in a scrappy fashion after 52 minutes, before Nathan Redmond doubled the lead on the hour mark.

Austin himself found the back of the net one more time, scoring 7 goals in 6 competitions. And then, the visitors were awarded a late penalty, and Sam Vokes made no mistake, finding the back of the net, but it was as close as they could get, with the match ending 3-1 in favor of The Saints.

Meanwhile, Watford earned a 1-nil away victory against struggling Middlesbrough at Riverside stadium, to join the others at the top half of the Premier League standings.

The visitors were in control of the match, while creating many chances in each half, and they scored the winner less than 10 minutes into the second half, with Jose Holebas advancing to the edge of the area, before lashing a stunning strike into the top corner.

Middlesbrough, however, were unable to seriously trouble Watford in their quest for an equalizer, and ended up losing the match, thus sitting outside the relegation zone on goal difference.
