Britain’s Andy Murray has remained on course for back-to-back titles in Asia, as he progressed into the final of the Shanghai Masters, following a straight sets victory over Frenchman Gilles Simon.

The 29-year-old Scot who’s in search of his 6th title of the year, saw-off Simon in a confident display. It took Murray 1 hour and 43 minutes to dismantle the world No 32, as he won the match 6-4, 6-3 to reach his 10th final of the year.

The Brit will play Roberto Bautista in Sunday’s final, and if he manages to win the match, Murray will be just 915 points behind Djokovic in the annual rankings points. This will increase his chances of finishing as the year-end as world number one.
