Tony Martin wins men's Road World Championships time trial

Germany’s Tony Martin has claimed the elite men time trial world title for the fourth time at the UCI Road World Championships in Doha. 

Martin past the finishing line with a time of 44 minutes 42.99 seconds to take top spot on Wednesday. He beat defending champion Vasil Kiryienka of Belarus by 45.05 seconds.

Jonathan Castroviejo ended his day in third while Maciej Bodnar of Poland finished 4th.

With the triumph, Martin joined Swiss Fabian Cancellara, who retired after winning the event at the Olympics in Rio, at the top of the list of winners.
