Spanish great Rafael Nadal has been sent crashing out of the Shanghai Masters, as he lost to Serbia’s Viktor Troicki in straight sets, in the 2nd round of the event.

On Wednesday, the 14-time Grand Slam Champion saved a match point in the 2nd set, but was beaten in the tie-breaker as he lost 6-3, 7-6 to the Serb.

It was Troicki's first win over Nadal in 6 career meetings. Troicki will next face Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut who edged past American Taylor Fritz earlier.

But while it was a shock exit for Nadal, World No.2 Andy Murray managed to grab a straight sets victory over American Steve Johnson, to make it to the 3rd round of the Shanghai Masters.

The Brit put up a terrific performance to take the first set 6-3 against Johnson. He continued his dominant performance in the 2nd set to win it 6-2.

Next up for Murray is a meeting with France's Lucas Pouille who earlier beat Nicolas Almagro in Straight Sets.
