China is right about the situation caused by Washington's intervention in the South China Sea, which could “erupt into a very serious war” in that part of the world, says Stephen Lendman, author and radio host.

China is well aware of the United States' intentions, Lendman said, adding that Washington attempted to impose its hegemony on Asia and other parts of the world.

“It is the South China Sea, it’s not the South American Sea, but America thinks all seas belong to America,” he said.

“Maybe all of the conflicts around the world stem from America’s imperial agenda.”

On Tuesday, China denounced the US intervention in Asia, including in the South China Sea, and Washington's deployment of an advanced missile system in South Korea.

Lendman warned about a possible nuclear war as a result of the US meddling throughout the world, which could affect everyone everywhere.

Lendman also said the United States was pursuing its regime change policy in a bid to eliminate all independent governments.

He also touched upon the impact of the US domestic politics on its foreign policy. “With the prospect of Hillary Clinton (Democratic presidential candidate) succeeding [President Barack] Obama, the chance of a nuclear war under her leadership is extremely high.”

Tensions between the US and China have escalated in the wake of Washington's increased military involvement in Asia as part of President Obama's so-called pivot to the region.

The US says no region is more important to Washington's long-term interests than Asia. Political observers believe the United States tries to impose its hegemony on the region and check China's rise in Asia.
