Iranian cyclists clinch four medals in ACC Track Asia Cup

Iranian male and female cyclists have put a convincing end to their campaign at the Asian Cycling Championships (ACC) Track Asia Cup 2016 in Thailand, and taken home four more medals, including a gold.

On Sunday, Iran’s Mohammad Daneshvar competed against his rivals in the men’s scratch race event in the Thai capital city of Bangkok, and stood on top of the podium to be awarded the gold medal.

Fatemeh Hadavand and Rayhaneh Talebi also took part in women’s double sprint competitions and bagged a bronze medal for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Iranian outfit, comprised of Talebi, Parastou Basti, Hadavand and Forouzan Abdollahi vied for a medal in the women’s 4000-meter team pursuit competitions, and stood behind Hong Kong and Kazakhstan squads to get the bronze medal.

Additionally, Hassan Alivarposhti, Ali Aliasgari and Daneshvar won silver in the team sprint event.

The ACC Track Asia Cup 2016 started in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 7, and finished on October 9.

Dozens of male and female athletes from several Asian countries, including China, Hong Kong, Iran, Kazakhstan, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand and Uzbekistan competed for top honors at the continental sporting event.
